India Increases Checks at Boeing 787 Dreamliners


Indian flight regulator said an urgent safety examination was being carried out on a dozen Jet Boeing 787 after an Indian water accident that killed everything except for one in 242 people in it.

Air India, under the direction of the flight regulator, has so far completed the inspection once from nine Dreamliners in the fleet with 24 aircraft still to check, the carrier said in a post on X on Saturday.

Checks are being carried out when 787 jets returned to India, before being cleaned for the next flight. “Some of these checks can cause higher settlement time and delay potential on certain long -distance routes,” Air India said.

The Indian aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, said that on Friday it had ordered maintenance examinations in all India’s Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliners which were equipped with Genx General Electric engines.

Inspection, which will be carried out for two weeks, including the fuel system, cabin air, engine control and hydraulics after the Indian Air aircraft seems to lose push when taking off.

The last communication from the SABHARWAL SBHARWAL SEMEET flight captain to air traffic control is “Mayday … no thrust, loss of power, unable to lift,” London Telegraph reported.

Investigators have surveyed the ruins of the Indian AI171 Air flight to determine what caused the aircraft to fail shortly after taking off on Thursday and plunged into densely populated residential areas in the western city of Ahmedabad. This incident ranked as the worst disaster in civil aviation in more than a decade.

The accident site was closed on Saturday after the rescue operation ended and the investigation was increasingly intensive. Experts from the aircraft and Boeing accident investigation bureau, as well as several civil aviation authorities, have surveyed the location. One of the two black boxes of aircraft – which holds the main flight and sound data from the flight – has been found.
