Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement Opens New Training Facilities in Ghana

The maritime industry really needs a skilled sailor; However, young trained talents are very rare. Because the working age population of traditional shipping countries is anticipated to decline over the next few years, companies need to take problems in their own hands and diversify their crew collections if they want to maintain business continuity. Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has now opened its maritime training center in Ghana, further increasing its presence and increasing its maritime service offerings in West Africa.

Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has opened the New Maritime Training Center (MTC) in Ghana, who further strengthens its position in the region. The new MTC is located on the Regional Maritime University Campus (RMU) at Accra, Ghana, with whom BSM established a local representative office and cadet program in 2012. The course offered focused on vocational exposure and cadets, officers and ranking, making it a significant addition to programs offered by the university. In addition, special artificial training courses are offered for hospitality crew for cruise ships.

“At BSM, we emphasize the selection, development and management of employees at sea which is the key to the operation of our client’s ship that is safe and efficient. With the opening of the new MTC in Ghana, BSM has taken a significant step to increase its training offer to sailors from the region and process very skilled professionals who provide the highest level of performance, “said Eva Rodriguez, Director of Human Resources in BSM. “With the establishment of local training facilities, we not only underline our sustainable commitment to this region but also handle the increasing demand for crew by diversifying our crew.”

BSM has invested in African sailors training for more than a decade. With 1.5 billion people, and this number is expected to multiply in 2050, as well as an estimated joint Nominal GDP of USD 2.8 trillion dollars, the African continent is one of the largest growth markets in the world. When it comes to searching for the next generation at sea, this region will be one of the new borders because the population is young and growing quickly. Realizing great potential, BSM had begun to train African sailors in 2012. At that time, a collection of West African BSM sailors counted less than 30. Today, the company has 600 sailors from the region in its crew.

The new MTC in Ghana is the sixth BSM institution like this. The company’s training facility is focused on providing specialist skills and training through a tailored training program to meet industrial and specific client requirements, offering a comprehensive curriculum that combines theory with direct experience. The latest facilities and experienced instructors, creating the environment, not only for BSM sailors themselves but also for third -party clients, where learning is to exceed conventional limits, complement maritime personnel with the skills needed to try.

MTC BSM is certified for ISO 9001-2015 standards. Courses offered by MTC include SIMULATOR training approved by DNV and operational addresses, safety, and environmental training needs for public and specifically in the growing maritime industry.
